Personally, I have come to agree with Myers. It is not unreasonable to assume that some spontaneous and hypnotically induced past life memories really belong to another personality from the person’s group soul. It is also reasonable to assume that at least some of what is taken as evidence for past life memories is actually the result of various forms of spiritual interference as suggested by Swedenborg.
As you recall, Swedenborg divided the heavens into societies consisting of spirits with similar beliefs. Some mediums channel spirits from sectors in which the spirits do not believe in reincarnation. Anna Wickland’s Mercy Band of spirits adamantly denied that reincarnation takes place. Other mediums channel spirits from spiritual societies that do believe in reincarnation.
Keep in mind that these spiritual groupings are composed of souls with beliefs that they brought with them from their past lives. If If the members of this group believed in reincarnation when they were living, then that is the information that they will all channel. If another group of souls all died believing that reincarnation does not take place, then the members of that group will deny reincarnation to the mediums that channel them.
